The old site no longer matched the business Peak Value had become
The challenge

The old site no longer matched the business Peak Value had become

The old website had served the business, but it no longer matched the experience we wanted for the brand.

  • The design felt visually outdated
  • It lacked social proof across key pages
  • The overall layout lacked cadence, hierarchy, and structure
  • The content didn’t clearly communicate Peak Value’s positioning
  • The CTAs lacked clear positioning and didn’t effectively guide visitors towards an enquiry

The bigger issue was that the website wasn’t fully communicating the value behind the business. Peak Value’s proposition goes beyond compliance. The firm talks about helping clients build better structures, improve their financial position, and work towards long-term financial independence.

When your business evolves, your website needs to evolve with it

Your services expand. Your positioning becomes clearer. Your ideal customers change. But the website often stays the same.

That was the brief when we started working with Peak Value Advisory, a Brisbane-based accounting and advisory firm. Peak Value isn’t positioned as a traditional practice that simply prepares tax returns. The firm works across tax and compliance, business structures, bookkeeping, advisory, and investment-related services, with a focus on helping business owners and investors make better financial decisions.

Their team brings real-world experience as business owners and investors themselves. So this wasn’t about making the website look better. It was about building a website that actually represented the business Peak Value had become.

When your business evolves, your website needs to evolve with it
Our approach

Start with the business, not the homepage

One of the easiest mistakes in a redesign is jumping straight into colours and fonts. We started with who Peak Value serves, what those people need to understand, and what should happen after someone lands on the site.

01 step

Ask the business questions first

Who is Peak Value trying to reach? Who is their ideal customer? What makes them different from a traditional Brisbane accounting firm? What should someone do after landing on the website? Those questions became the foundation of everything that followed.

02 step

Build a clearer path through the site

Accounting firms often drown visitors in a long list of services. We structured the experience so someone landing on the site could answer five questions quickly: Who is Peak Value? Who do they help? What can they help me with? Why should I trust them? What’s the next step?

03 step

Design for trust without the corporate fog

We balanced professionalism with approachability: typography, hierarchy, white space, service presentation, trust signals, and a homepage that establishes positioning early. Credentials, experience, testimonials, and clear CTAs became part of the journey, not a sidebar afterthought.

04 step

Build on WordPress their team can own

Peak Value already knew WordPress and needed to edit without a developer for every change. We built a custom theme with ACF for structured service content, Gravity Forms for a multi-step enquiry form, and Wordfence for security. Migration kept SEO metadata intact while the new pages went live.

05 step

Design mobile and SEO into the foundations

Mobile wasn’t a squeeze of the desktop layout. Navigation, hierarchy, CTAs, and forms were designed for small screens from the start. SEO work sat outside the project scope, but structure, metadata, linking, URLs, image optimisation, and performance were handled so Peak Value’s SEO team could take over from day one.

Inside the redesign

How the decisions stacked up

The process above is the map. These chapters are the workshop notes: the path through the site, the trust work, the WordPress build, and the mobile plus SEO foundations that search engines and visitors both need to see.

Information architecture

Creating a clearer path through the website

Accounting and advisory firms often face a particular website challenge: a long list of services that only gets more complex as the business grows. Peak Value is no different. Its offering spans tax and compliance, business structures, bookkeeping, business consultation, SMSF-related services, and broader wealth and financial-independence strategies.

The challenge was presenting that breadth without overwhelming visitors. We wanted someone landing on the website to get clear answers to five questions quickly. That meant giving the site a clearer information hierarchy and making the most important content easier to find.

Visual direction

Professional without feeling corporate

For the visual direction, we wanted to strike a balance: professional enough to build trust, human enough to feel approachable. Financial and accounting websites can easily tip too far into formal. Too much text, too many generic stock images, too much corporate language. We wanted Peak Value to feel different.

We paid close attention to typography and readability, visual hierarchy, using white space strategically, calls-to-action, service presentation, trust signals, content density, mobile layouts, and consistency across key pages. The goal wasn’t design for its own sake. Every decision needed to make the website easier to understand.

Making the homepage do more work. A visitor should understand the business within seconds. The new homepage introduces the firm’s broader philosophy around tax, strategy, and financial independence, then guides visitors through the different ways Peak Value can help. It also brings the firm’s experience and people into the experience, rather than presenting them as a faceless financial-services brand.

Building trust into the experience. When someone is deciding whether to trust an accounting or financial advisory firm, the website has a bigger job than explaining services. It needs to answer “can I trust these people with something this important?” Peak Value already had strong credibility signals: professional credentials, years of experience, and real client relationships. Our job was to make those signals work naturally within the user journey, rather than treating them as an afterthought bolted onto the sidebar.

The build

Built on WordPress, for a good reason

Peak Value’s team was already familiar with WordPress, and content editing ease was a priority. They wanted to update pages, add content, and make changes without relying on a developer for every small edit. We found WordPress to be the right fit for that.

We built the site on a custom theme rather than a pre-built template, which gave us full control over the design system, page structure, and performance, instead of working around the limitations of a page builder.

One of the bigger challenges on the build side was the migration itself. Moving existing content across to the new site while populating new pages meant we had to be careful that nothing got lost or broken, particularly the SEO elements. Metadata, title tags, and page descriptions all needed to carry across accurately, so the site didn’t lose the search visibility it already had while it was being rebuilt.

Foundations

Mobile and SEO built in from day one

A modern website can’t just be designed for desktop and squeezed onto a mobile screen afterwards. Throughout the redesign, we considered how navigation, content hierarchy, buttons, forms, imagery, and layouts would behave across different screen sizes. The aim was for the mobile experience to feel like its own deliberate design decision, not a shrunk-down version of the desktop site.

While SEO work itself sat outside the scope of this project, we made sure the foundations were solid: page structure, heading hierarchy, metadata, internal linking, URL structure, image optimisation, mobile usability, page performance, and service-page structure were all handled properly during the build.

For a Brisbane-based accounting and advisory firm, local search relevance matters. The site needed to clearly communicate what Peak Value does, who it serves, and where it operates, not just to visitors, but to search engines too. From there, the site was handed off SEO-ready for Peak Value’s own SEO team to take further.

The result

The result is a website that better reflects the Peak Value Advisory brand and the direction of the business. Instead of presenting Peak Value as just another accounting firm, the new site gives them a stronger platform for accounting, advisory, wealth, and financial independence.

A stronger first impression. A more modern, professional experience that matches the firm’s positioning.

Clearer communication. Visitors can understand what Peak Value does, who they work with, and how services fit together.

Better user journeys. Clearer pathways from discovery to services to getting in touch.

Stronger positioning. Experience as business owners and advisors is front and centre.

A stronger foundation for growth. A better base for content, SEO, campaigns, and continued growth.

What we learned

A website redesign isn’t really about redesigning a website. It’s about making sure the website reflects the business behind it.

Peak Value had evolved beyond the traditional idea of an accountant who simply handles tax returns. Their positioning is broader: helping business owners and investors make better financial decisions, build stronger structures, and work towards long-term financial independence. The website needed to evolve in the same direction.

That’s what we set out to achieve: not just a newer website, but one that actually feels like Peak Value.
