Preolas Website Design & Build
The challenge

A boutique enterprise consultancy with no website to back it up

Preolas was founded by two former OpenText executives with VP-level experience across ANZ, built to serve organisations in energy, utilities, construction, commercial and government where information governance genuinely matters. That kind of credibility usually takes years to establish, but without a website, none of it was visible to the enterprise buyers researching vendors online before ever making contact.

  • No website meant enterprise buyers researching ECM consultants had nowhere to find or vet Preolas before reaching out
  • A product suite spanning consulting, PowerApps, AI Gateway, and the Aconex Connector had no single place to explain how those pieces fit together
  • Boutique, founder-led expertise needed a way to read as credible depth, not a small unproven shop, next to larger generalist firms
  • Proof points like the Origin Energy partnership behind the AI Gateway had no home to build authority around
  • A cautious, technical, risk-averse audience (energy, utilities, government) needed a first impression built for trust, not just information
  • Lead capture (demo bookings, contact enquiries) had no structured home to convert interest into a scheduled conversation

The bigger challenge was that Preolas’ actual differentiator, deep OpenText ECM expertise proven in production with major enterprise clients, existed nowhere online. The business needed a website built from scratch that could carry that credibility from the very first visit.

A specialist consultancy needs a website that proves it, not just describes it

Enterprise buyers in asset-intensive industries do not choose an ECM consultant on a whim. They research quietly, compare credentials, and look for evidence before they ever pick up the phone. For a firm as specialised as Preolas, positioned between boutique consulting and proprietary software products, the website had to do real work: explain a technical offering clearly, establish founder-level credibility, and give a cautious buyer enough confidence to book a demo.

Starting from nothing meant there was no legacy content or structure to work around, but it also meant every part of that trust-building job had to be designed in from day one, for an audience with very little tolerance for vague positioning or generic consulting language.

Our approach

Start with the enterprise buyer, not the homepage

The easiest mistake in a specialist B2B build is leading with the logo and a mission statement. We started with who Preolas is actually selling to, what convinces a cautious enterprise buyer to trust a boutique firm, and what needs to happen before they’ll book a demo. Those questions shaped everything that followed.

01 step

Ask the business questions first

Why trust a boutique firm over a large generalist consultancy? What exactly does Preolas do, consulting, products, or both? What proof is there that this actually works at enterprise scale? Those questions shaped the page structure from the start.

02 step

Build a clear path from problem to demo

We mapped the journey from “researching ECM consultants” to “booked a demo,” and structured the site so credibility, proof, and product clarity all appear before the buyer is asked to commit to anything.

03 step

Design for enterprise trust from day one

Founder credentials, the Origin Energy relationship, and live, in-production products (AI Gateway, Aconex Connector) were built into the core narrative, not left as footnotes, so a skeptical buyer sees proof early.

04 step

Build on WordPress the team can own

Preolas needed to add case studies, update product pages, and manage enquiries without relying on a developer for every change. We built the site on WordPress with a structure the team can manage directly.

05 step

Design for SEO and lead capture from the start

With no existing content or search presence to build from, page structure, service and product pages, and the demo booking flow were all designed for search visibility and conversion from the very first line of copy.

INSIDE THE PARTNERSHIP

How the decisions stacked up

Preolas needed a site that could carry a specialist ECM consultancy’s credibility to organisations who can’t afford to get information governance wrong. Here’s the reasoning behind the structure, the tone, the build, and the foundations underneath it.

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

Creating a clearer path through three different offers

Preolas isn’t selling one thing. It’s consulting, a suite of products (Preolas Apps, the AI Gateway, the Aconex Connector), and ongoing support three genuinely different engagements aimed at the same buyer. Left unstructured, that breadth reads as unfocused, which is the last thing an enterprise ECM buyer wants to see.

The navigation splits “What We Do” from “Product” deliberately, with the product family broken into its own sub-menu rather than folded into a general services list. A visitor from an energy or government body should be able to tell within seconds whether they need a consulting engagement or a piece of software already in production.

VISUAL DIRECTION

Enterprise credibility, without sounding like everyone else

The audience is asset-intensive organisations and government agencies energy, utilities, construction deciding who governs information that genuinely can’t go missing. That calls for restraint over polish: fewer generic stock images, more direct statements about who founded the company and what they’ve actually built.

The homepage leads with the founders’ background rather than a features list two former OpenText executives with VP-level experience across ANZ because in a specialist consulting sale, the people are the credibility. The Origin Energy relationship is treated the same way: not a logo in a strip, but a named, ongoing reference.

“Boutique by design” needed to read as a genuine trade-off, not a euphemism for small. The copy says plainly what that means in practice: no handoffs, direct access to the people who built the product.

THE BUILD

Built on WordPress, with the lead flow doing real work

The site runs on a custom WordPress theme, which kept full control over layout and performance rather than working around a page builder’s constraints important on a site where every section (services, products, case studies) needed its own structure rather than a repeated template.

Lead capture is handled through an embedded LeadConnector form and a dedicated “Book a Demo” flow with date and time selection, rather than a generic contact form because a demo booking is a different commitment than a general enquiry, and the site treats it as one.

The map embed and full address, ABN-level contact detail, and named socials in the footer all do the same job: making a boutique firm verifiable at a glance.

FOUNDATIONS

Mobile and SEO built in from day one

Buyers researching an ECM consultant rarely make the decision on a phone, but they do their first read there. Navigation, service breakdowns, and the founder-credibility content all needed to hold up on a small screen without collapsing into unreadable blocks particularly the multi-level Product sub-menu.

On the SEO side, metadata, canonical tags, and Open Graph data were set deliberately rather than left to defaults, so the site represents itself accurately when it’s shared or indexed not an afterthought bolted on after launch.

Homepage Highlights

A homepage built to establish credibility fast: clear enterprise positioning, the boutique founder story, and a direct path into either "What We Do" or booking a demo, without making a cautious visitor dig for reassurance.

Homepage Highlights

Product page highlights

Three genuinely different offerings (Preolas Apps, AI Gateway, and the Aconex Connector) each given a dedicated page, so a technical buyer can evaluate the specific product relevant to them instead of one blended, generic description.

Mobile experience

A site designed to hold up for a research-heavy, detail-driven enterprise audience on any device, with the demo booking flow kept just as clear and low-friction on mobile as on desktop.

Mobile experience

The result

The result is a website that gives Preolas the professional digital presence its team’s expertise deserved from day one, built to hold up under the scrutiny of exactly the kind of enterprise buyer it needs to convince.

  • A credible first impression. The site now reads as a specialist, founder-led ECM authority, not an unproven boutique shop.
  • A clearer product story. Consulting, PowerApps, AI Gateway, and the Aconex Connector are each explained on their own terms instead of blurred together.
  • A structured path to demos. A clear, low-friction route from landing on the site to booking a conversation.
  • A foundation for growth. A site structure ready to carry case studies, testimonials, and new products as Preolas’ proof points continue to build.

What we learned

Building a website from scratch for a specialist consultancy is really about compressing years of earned credibility into a first visit. Preolas had the expertise and the enterprise relationships to back up its positioning, the challenge was making that credibility visible and provable to a cautious buyer within the first few seconds on the site, with no existing content or structure to build from.

That is what we set out to achieve: a website that gives a new, boutique firm the digital presence of an established enterprise partner.
